Inspiration arrived unexpectedly through a simple piece of Japanese pottery—a bowl with a blue lobster painted inside. That small moment of curiosity led me down a rabbit hole of vibrant marine life, where I discovered the extraordinary mantis shrimp.

With its dazzling colors and almost alien-like appearance, the mantis shrimp feels like one of the ocean's greatest works of art. I wanted to capture that same sense of energy, movement, and wonder through layers of rich color and expressive detail.
